HEALIAID Bilayer Collagen Matrix is designed for soft tissue regeneration and sealing extraction sockets in the oral cavity. It is composed of two layers: the dense outer layer (with degradation time of 6-8 weeks) provides stability while allowing open healing; the spongy inner layer supports blood clot stabilization and promotes early vascularization and good soft-tissue ingrowth.

The resorbable dressing is indicated for gaining keratinized tissue and for recession coverage. It is also used for sealing extraction sockets with preserved buccal walls, which helps retain bone grafting materials. The collagen matrix provides an alternative to autologous soft-tissue grafts. Painful harvesting of tissue is avoided, benefiting both patients and clinicians.

To use HEALIAID Bilayer Collagen Matrix, measure the defect and trim the matrix to the required shape. Position the dense layer facing outwards and the spongy layer towards the bone or periosteum. The soaked matrix adapts spontaneously to contours and adheres well to defects. The dense outer layer provides optimal suture pull-out strength for secure retention.

1. Preparation: Ensure a sterile surgical environment with appropriate instruments and equipment. Thoroughly inspect the bilayer collagen matrix for integrity and sterility before use.

2. Patient Assessment: Evaluate the patient's periodontal condition and treatment plan. Confirm the need for a bilayer collagen matrix and select the appropriate size and shape for the surgical site.

3. Surgical Site Preparation: Clean and debride the surgical site thoroughly to remove debris and bacteria. Ensure adequate hemostatis before placing the collagen matrix.

4. Matrix Placement: Carefully position the bilayer collagen matrix over the surgical site, ensuring complete coverage and adaptation to the surrounding tissues. Trim excess material if necessary for optimal fit.

5. Securement: Use sutures or tissue adhesive to secure the collagen matrix in place, ensuring stability during the initial healing phase.

6. Gently Handling: Handle the collagen matrix with care to avoid damage or displacement. Minimize manipulation to preserve its structural integrity and bioactive properties.

7. Postoperative Care: Instruct the patient on proper postoperative care, including oral hygiene instructions and any dietary restrictions. Monitor the surgical site for signs of infection or complications.

8. Follow-Up: Schedule follow-up appointments to evaluate healing progress and assess the need for additional treament or adjustments.

9. Documentation: Document the use of the bilayer collagen matrix in the patient's medical records, including details of the procedure, product used, and any relevant clinical observations.

10. Education: Provide patient education on the benefits of the bilayer collagen matrix and its role in supporting periodontal tissue regeneration. Encourage compliance with postoperative instructions for optimal outcomes.

By adhering to these guidelines, dental professionals can effectively utilize bilayer collagen matrices in periodontal surgery to support tissue regeneration and enhance patient outcomes.
