My recent experience at two major dental meetings in 2023
This year, I had the opportunity to attend two major trade shows: the California Dental Association (CDA) and the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons (AAOMS). The prospect of participating in dental shows alongside General Dentists and Oral Surgeons heightened my excitement, as it marked my first foray into such events. To my pleasant surprise, both shows significantly surpassed the smaller-scale event I attended in 2022.
Initially, I felt a bit nervous, given my limited experience in face-to-face interactions with customers as an Inside Sales Executive for AD Surgical. However, as time passed, those initial jitters faded away. The warm and friendly interactions with everyone I encountered made me feel increasingly at ease. At the CDA, the presence of numerous staff members, accompanied by dentists, actively exploring each booth and seeking out giveaways, added to the vibrant atmosphere.
The AAOMS show presented its own set of highlights, with the neighboring booth drawing substantial attention. Many Oral Surgeons were captivated by the innovative dental chair from Germany on display, and witnessing someone confidently stand on the chair without any signs of strain or instability was truly remarkable!
During moments of downtime, I took the opportunity to stroll around the trade show floor, observing the various products exhibitors were offering. It was an eye-opening experience, albeit slightly intimidating, as exhibitors eagerly sought out potential interest in their products or enticed attendees with free items. I made it a point to visit specific booths to delve deeper into understanding each company's offerings.
One memorable encounter involved an attendee who passionately shared insights into new techniques employed by oral surgeons for a specific procedure. Towards the end of the AAOMS show, with the ebbing of foot traffic, it became a bit challenging to capture the attention of attendees. Nonetheless, the overall experience was nothing short of amazing, and I eagerly anticipate the next opportunity to immerse myself in the dynamic world of medical and dental trade shows.
