i-PLUG® Implant Abutment PTFE Filler is a semi-soft, medical grade and packable filler material that can be used to seal an abutment hole. It can also be easily retrieved when needed. The one-size PTFE rod (Ø1.8mm x 50 mm) can be cut to custom fit the abutment hole of any screw-retained or cement-retained prosthesis. i-PLUG® is fully autoclavable to prevent cross-contamination and to minimize wastage of any unused material.  Autoclave setting recommendation:  250 degrees Fahrenheit / 121 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes.

Works well with our patented Filling & Removal (FR) Instrument (item # D030-017) that is specially designed for the placement & removal of i-PLUG®.

  • A patented abutment filler material made of medical grade PTFE, which is an autoclavable, non-toxic and highly biocompatible material.
  • The packable filler can adapt and completely fill out the space inside an abutment hole by compression, and it can be easily removed in one piece when needed.
  • Safer and more user-friendly than alternative materials such as plumber's tapes, cotton pellets and gutta percha.
  • One size PTFE rod (Ø1.8mm x 50 mm) can be easily cut to appropriate length to fit abutment holes of both screw-retained and cement-retained prostheses.

PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) fillers are used to fill the gap between the implant abutment and the crown. The use of PTFE filler is beneficial because it helps prevent the leakage of bacteria and saliva into the implant, which can cause infection and implant failure. Here are some steps to follow when using PTFE filler for dental implant abutment:

1. Prepare the implant abutment: Make sure the implant abutment is clean and dry before applying the PTFE filler. Use a cotton swab or air syringe to remove any debris or moisture.

2. Cut the PTFE filler: Cut a small piece of PTFE filler using a sterile scissors or knife. The size of the PTFE filler should be slightly larger than the gap between the implant abutment and the crown.

3. Place the PTFE filler: Use a cotton plier to carefully place the PTFE filler into the gap between the implant abutment and the crown. Make sure the PTFE filler is snugly fit into the gap without being too tight or too loose.

4. Trim the PTFE filler: Trim any excess PTFE filler that protrudes above the implant abutment. Use a sterile scissors or knife to carefully cut the PTFE filler flush with the abutment and crown.

5. Compress the PTFE filler: Use a dental plugger to compress the semi-soft PTFE filler into the abutment hole with firm pressure, making sure that the space is fully sealed.

6. Cement the crown: Once the PTFE filler is in place and the fit is checked, cement the crown onto the implant abutment using a dental cement recommended by the manufacturer.

Overall, it is important to follow the instructions provided by the dental implant manufacturer if you are unsure about using PTFE filler for dental implant abutment.

5 years into using this product - great all the way. Nice handling. Tip: We've learned to not pack it in tight because then it is a bear to get out.
